The PSD will abstain from voting on the motion of censure filed by the Liberal Initiative.
The party’s vote was announced at the parliamentary group meeting, which took place after Tuesday’s Political Committee meeting and is still taking place. and confirmed to DN by parliamentary PSD sources.
Sources of the Social Democratic parliamentary group report this. party president Luís Montenegro said now is not the time to try to overthrow António Costa’s government. When that time comes, the PSD will file its own motion of censureassured the leader of the PSD.
Instead, DN knows, the party will use the debate on the motion of censure to point to the government’s failure of the PS.
In the first motion of censure presented in this legislature and approved in the Assembly – drafted by Chega – the PSD also abstained, thus not changing the position of the party between this motion and the one now tabled by IL.
