The PSD announced this Friday that it would vote in favor of Chega’s and BE’s proposals for parliamentary inquiries on TAP and, if rejected by an absolute majority, admit it would consider moving on to a mandatory committee.
Speaking to journalists in the Assembly of the Republic, the parliamentary leader of the PSD, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, was questioned on the subject after both BE and Chega delivered projects to set up investigative committees targeting the airline.
“The PSD will vote in favor of the TAP inquiry committees at this point. If they are rejected by the PS, which has an absolute majority, we will consider whether to continue with power or not,” he said.
Proceeding with a potestative (mandatory) inquiry requires 46 deputies, and Miranda Sarmento recalled that each party has a limited number that it can use in each legislature.
“We are still waiting for the Prime Minister to deign to answer parliament on the questions we put to him about the performance of Banco de Portugal,” he recalled, saying that “much more than the 30 regimental days” that were initially had passed, although the prime minister has already asked for more time.
The PSD had already admitted that if António Costa’s answers were not satisfactory, it could launch a parliamentary inquiry on the subject.
