The Prime Minister, António Costa, announced on Thursday that he will propose to the President of the Republic a circuit to “guarantee greater transparency and trust of all at the time of appointment” of members of the government, as this system can be improved.
“I will propose to the President of the Republic that we succeed in establishing a circuit between my proposal and the appointment of members of the government, which will allow us to avoid ignoring facts that we cannot know and guarantee greater transparency and confidence of everyone at the time of appointment”announced António Costa during the debate on the motion of censure against the government, in response to the only member of the PAN, Inês Sousa Real.
The Prime Minister made it clear that he will first speak to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and then announce what he will propose “so that the circuit can be better because it can be better”.
This Thursday, Correio da Manhã reported the seizure of joint accounts that the new Secretary of State for Agriculture, Carla Alves, with her husband and former mayor of Vinhais, Américo Pereira, released information less than 24 hours after taking over the ruler’s property.
The Public Prosecutor charged him with several crimes and ordered the arrest of assets of the lawyer and former socialist mayor, who left the leadership of the municipality in 2017, in a trial worth more than 4.7 million euros that still has three defendants.
At stake are several deals concluded between 2006 and 2015, which also involve a company, a businessman and the rector of the former seminary of this municipality in the district of Bragança.
According to the investigation, discrepancies between deposited and declared amounts have been discovered in the couple’s accounts over several years.
