Fernando Medina assumed this afternoon that it is a “problem that there are these kinds of fees”, referring to the check for 500 thousand euros that was paid to Alexandra Reis when she left TAP’s administration. The Finance Minister, who will be heard this afternoon in the Committee on Budget and Finance, admitted that there are “malpractices”, namely with regard to the Statute of the Government Manager.
The government official explained that while the airline’s directors are covered by this legislation, there are exceptions due to competition reasons, namely in the clauses corresponding to fees.
“It is proof that TAP is subject to the Statute of Public Manager, with few exceptions. It is an application with exceptional elements, as with other public companies operating in a competitive area. Excluding paragraphs and articles has not ensured for transparency in some processes,” he acknowledged.
The Finance Minister will be heard in parliament this Friday, in the context of a strong request from the PSD, after the PS this week held hearings requested by the opposition in the case involving former Secretary of State do Tesoura and KRAAN.
Last Wednesday, the PS refused the requests of the PSD, PCP, Bloco de Esquerda and Chega to hear in the Assembly of the Republic of the Treasury in addition to Fernando Medina, the former Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, the former Secretary of State , Alexandra Reis, TAP’s Chairman of the Board, Manuel Beja, and TAP’s Executive Chairman, Christine Ourmières-Widener.
