Socialist Party: Faure reaffirms his victory, his opponent denounces “irresponsible” comments

The first secretary of the outgoing Socialist Party once again affirms that he has been re-elected by the militants at the head of the party, while his opponent questions the result. A committee is in motion.

The first secretary of the outgoing Socialist Party, Olivier Faure, reaffirmed on Saturday in the JDD having been re-elected during the militants’ vote, “an irresponsible exit” according to his opponent Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, while the committee to verify the results was still underway.

“The result is clear and clear. The time for voting is over”, proclaims Olivier Faure.

The representative of Seine-et-Marne added: “I am grateful to the socialists for having confirmed me in the most beautiful of functions, that of directing and animating the party for social and ecological justice.”

“Some make doubt” for Faure

A PS press release had proclaimed the victory of the outgoing Olivier Faure on Friday morning, with 50.83% of the votes of the deputies, but the result was disputed by the mayor of Rouen, who invoked numerous incidents capable of misrepresent the result. Since then, the match has been plunged into a crisis, with each side claiming victory by punishing the opposing cheats.

A verification commission was convened, on Saturday from 1:00 p.m., so that the two parties agree on the figures of the Marseille Congress, from January 27 to 29.

“No irregularity is tolerable, but some fabricate doubts and create suspicions to tarnish the result”, criticizes Olivier Faure.

His opponent deplores a “distressing spectacle”

Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol reacted on Twitter criticizing an “irresponsible departure”, “while our party offers a distressing show, while the Evidence Commission is at work”.

“I call once again for appeasement, transparency, respect for democracy and activists,” he added.

For Olivier Faure, his left-wing assembly line with Nupes, tied in May with LFI, EELV and the PCF, is in the majority: “Everyone must admit that a line has emerged and that therefore it is not a question of abandoning the assembly “. leftist and environmentalists. A coiled PS, a PS that only speaks to the PS, is a dead end.”

He promises that “Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol will be associated with the strategic orientations, in particular for the European ones, since it is on this subject that he has expressed his greatest concerns from the beginning”.
