The prime minister insisted on Tuesday that the questionnaire adopted by the government applies only to new secretaries of state or ministers and that the acting members have already provided information to parliament and the Constitutional Court.

António Costa took this position in statements to journalists in Carnaxide, Oeiras, after being confronted with the idea of ​​the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, that the current members of the government should also complete the questionnaire executive to potential new secretaries of state and ministers.

“The questionnaire is a tool for ministers to assess the secretaries of state they propose to the prime minister and for the prime minister to be able to assess everyone in relation to a range of situations that may affect the exercise of government functions,” said the minister. from the leader of the executive branch. .

As for those members of the government already in office, the Prime Minister believed they have “already gone through” a series of checks and balances.

“They have already presented all the public statements they have to make to the Assembly of the Republic or to the Constitutional Court. They have already given all this information – information that is accessible and I even get into the pages of newspapers,” he said.

That is, according to the Prime Minister, “this investigation is public and it is done”.
