Pensions: Nathalie Arthaud believes that “all the reforms have deteriorated the situation of women”

After the words of a minister who admitted that women would be “a little penalized” by the postponement of the age of majority, Nathalie Arthaud judges that “their situation worsens” with each new pension law.

No surprise for Nathalie Arthaud. Franck Riester, Minister for Relations with Parliament, advanced Monday evening that women would be “a little penalized” deferring the age of majority, which will rise to 64 years in 2030.

“All the pension reforms have worsened the situation of women. Because women are the ones who have the most difficulties to get their life annuities. Every time we add more, the situation of women worsens ”, judged the spokesman for the Workers League this Tuesday night on BFMTV.

Véran does not consider that “women are punished”

Frank Riester’s statement is in direct contradiction with elements of the language used until then by the government. During the presentation of the project, the Prime Minister affirmed that the reform must reduce the pension gap between men and womenbut it did not indicate that women should, on average, work until a later age.

“I do not consider that women are penalized” by lowering the age of departure, Olivier Véran, the government spokesman, said a little earlier on our antenna.

According to the impact study that BFM Business obtained on Monday, women will be more affected than men by the postponement of the retirement age. They will have to work an average of 7 more months compared to just 5 months for men.

Women with a pension 40% lower than that of men

For certain generations, such as that of 1980, for example, women will have to leave an average of 8 months later compared to 4 for men. In question: those who were able to leave from the age of 62 in full thanks to the quarters acquired during the birth of their children will now have to wait until they come of age, two more years to leave.

Many women are in this situation. Thus, in 2020, 123,000 women were able to retire from the age of 62 with all the necessary quarters. The amount of pensions paid to women is currently 40% less than that paid to men, according to INSEE figures.
