The deputy for Hauts-de-Seine Emmanuel Pellerin, at the center of the accusations of drug use revealed by Mediapart, announced on Thursday his “withdrawal” from the Renaissance group in the Assembly, as well as from the presidential party that planned to exclude him.
In an article published this Wednesday, Mediapart assures that Emmanuel Pellerin “used cocaine before and after his election to the Assembly last June” and that “in front of our elements he recognized this illegal use.”
“I have decided to withdraw from the life of my political group and the Renaissance party,” the Hauts-de-Seine deputy wrote in a press release posted on his Twitter account, apologizing.
“Nothing can justify the behavior that has been mine”, he writes, “I am ashamed of having been in a situation of drug addiction for a while. Today I make the decision to approach competent doctors and associations in the treatment of addictions and with a view to prevention”.
On Wednesday, the Renaissance party had made it known that it would examine the exclusion of Emmanuel Pellerin during its executive office which meets on Monday.
