While the CGT announced nearly 2 million protesters in France on Tuesday against the pension reform, the Assembly narrowly passed the bill’s introductory article.
246 deputies voted in favor and 229 against, giving the government a majority of just 17 votes.
A vote that illustrates the difficulties that the macronie could encounter in the coming days, with limited room for maneuver for the text to be adopted by the Palais Bourbon.
“We love the job”
This introductory article corresponds to the introduction of the text, and is supposed to contain the general spirit as well as the justification for the pension reform desired by the government.
The communist group had submitted an amendment to delete this article, but it was not adopted.
“Through this introductory article, we denounce its reform, because we love work. We love work and the employees behind the work,” the communist deputy Fabien Roussel declared in the chamber.
