The PSD this Thursday criticized the housing measures presented by the government, classifying it as a “statistical and abusive model” by “imposing a public logic of coercion and abuse of power over the rights and property of the Portuguese”.
The PSD parliament leader, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, reacted in parliament to the measures presented by the government in the Council of Ministers, saying that “it was clear in this presentation that there are two absolutely different models in the housing issue”.
“A statistic, abusive model that the government now presents, and the PSD model that involved civil society discussion, open, modern”he defended, referring to the measures presented by the Social Democrats this week.
For PSD, this program “depicts a government closed in on itself, alienated from reality, ever closer to the views of the extreme left and which, after seven years of absolute failure in housing policy, is embarking on a very dangerous path”.
“It seems to go back to the 1970s with a clear attack on private property, on the assets of the Portuguese, with the government seeking to impose a public logic of coercion and abuse of power over the rights and property of the Portuguese”he accused.
For the Social Democrats, the measures proposed by the executive are “disrespectful to the municipal councils”.
IL criticizes “the death of local tenancy” and “unsustainable aggression against private property
IL President Rui Rocha believed that the housing package announced this Thursday will spell the “death of local tenancies” and is an “unsustainable assault on private property”, accusing the government of being “desperate” responded.
In a first reaction to the package of measures presented by the government for housing, Rui Rocha was highly critical of the options chosen, as this was the “reaction of a government in desperation” and that the sector’s political responsibility for achieving these situation is entirely by António Costa and his superior.
For the liberal president, there is coming a “brutal intervention in the housing market, which will have disastrous consequences”, and warns that the physiognomy of cities will change with the “brute attack, the death of local leases”.
Rui Rocha condemned the “unsustainable aggression against private property” as the government “fired in all directions in desperation”.
Chega says government has “consciously chosen a model of deferral”
Chega’s president believed that the housing measures released are not a “solution that will effectively support” the Portuguese and that the government has “deliberately chosen a model of postponement”.
“It seems to us an overly rhetorical program, where the definition of concrete targets failed, the government was unable to find a solution that would effectively support those who are now experiencing difficulties in paying rent and paying their credit “said André Ventura in statements to journalists at the Assembly of the Republic in Lisbon.
Commenting shortly after the government’s presentation of the Mais Habitação program, the leader of Chega defended that “the bad news” for the Portuguese is that in “the next few months will continue to have problems paying rent, they will continue to have problems paying mortgages”.
André Ventura pointed out that this “program with a very pompous name” has been put together “Measures where the majority, probably around 80%, does not depend on government approval, but on parliamentary approval, will have a long period of public debate or will be measures that will have to interfere with fiscal instruments in force”.
and warned against it “it will postpone entry into force almost to next year’s limit”.
