“Mysogine”, “not everything is allowed”: the Nupes denounce a tweet from the honorary president of Lycra

A tweet from Alain Jakubowicz, honorary president of Licra, who attacked the clothing of a deputy, outraged many elected officials on the left. The International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism also condemned his comments on Monday.

A personal attack that does not happen. Alain Jakubowicz has come under fire from many left-wing elected officials since posting a controversial tweet on Sunday. Wanting to criticize the behavior of the rebel deputies, the honorary president of the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (Licra) attacked the clothes of Ersilia Soudais, elected LFI of Seine-et-Marne.

“Winter outfit for a deputy. We fear summer…”, writes Alain Jakubowicz, accompanying his tweet with a close-up of the deputy during one of his speeches in the National Assembly.

“Poor misogynistic boomer”

“Delete”, urges the green deputy Sandrine Rousseau. “Poor misogynistic boomer. You are pitiful,” abounds her rebellious colleague Aurélie Trouvou.

“Not everything is allowed, sir. You are the honorary president of an association that claims to fight against discrimination and you practice it yourself. Immediately delete this tweet, apologize to my comrade,” Mathilde Panot, president of the LFI group in the National Assembly.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a former presidential candidate, also reacted. “The sexist attacks against the team of the deputy Ersilia Soudais are a shame. They deserve the withdrawal of those who support them on behalf of a respected association”, writes the rebel tribune.

La Licra condemns statements by Jakubowicz

Questioned by hundreds of Internet users and many elected officials, the Licra officially reacted on Monday night.

“Clarification: Lycra fights against racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination. It categorically condemns the misogynistic and sexist attacks that violate the dignity of the human person as much as they disqualify their perpetrators and degrade public discourse,” the organization writes on its Twitter account. .

For his part, Alain Jakubowicz publicly responded to Jean-Luc Mélenchon and “firmly questions the sexist nature of his statements.”

“As for the shame and the necessary withdrawal, be careful, you could give ideas,” wrote the honorary president of the Lycra on Monday night.
