The Education and Science committee on Wednesday approved a request from the Liberal Initiative calling for an urgent hearing by Science, Technology and Higher Education Minister Elvira Fortunato on the resignation of the president of the National Innovation Agency (ANI). ).

National Innovation Agency president Joana Mendonça resigned at the beginning of the month, justifying the decision by considering that “the conditions are no longer met” to hold the position, claiming a “growing difficulty in finding guidance”. of custody, namely in matters of critical importance to the Agency”.
After the resignation, the Liberal Initiative asked for urgent parliamentary hearings of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, the Minister of Economy and Sea and Joana Mendonça.
At the time, the Liberals argued that the outgoing president was making “serious allegations against the custody of science, technology and higher education and the economy and the sea” that lacked “profound explanation.”
The hearings of Minister António Costa e Silva and Joana Mendonça were approved last week by the parliamentary committee for Economy, Public Works, Spatial Planning and Housing.
