Montenegro proposes a debt settlement program for social measures

The PSD chairman defended this Wednesday that the government should promote an extraordinary program to clear household and corporate debts for finance and social security and to use the revenues for social measures.

In an interview with the program “Negócios da Semana”, on SIC Notícias, Luís Montenegro believed that the government should make progress with new social measures to cope with high inflation, leaving a proposal to “give the public not to burden accounts”.

“The government should undertake a program to pay off tax and social security debts, as it did in 2016, and take advantage of revenues and apply them to social measures,” he said.

The Social Democratic leader recalled that in 2016 a similar program brought 580 million revenue to the state, as there are conditions for repeating an amount of this size.

“A number that would allow the government to create a program to help businesses and families and, for example, as we have already advocated, reduce VAT on electricity and gas to 6 percent for six months he defended. .
