“Minister of lies”, “imposture”: the left criticizes Olivier Dussopt for retirement at 1,200 euros

The number of retirees affected by the 1,200-euro pension has been reduced to less than 20,000 new beneficiaries a year, compared to the 40,000 promised in mid-February by Olivier Dussopt. “Inflated” figures that outrage the left opposition.

“Our Diet Retreats”. The left rose up against Labor Minister Olivier Dussopt on Tuesday night after the revelation that the number of beneficiaries of the 1,200-euro pension dropped again.

In a reply by email from Olivier Dussopt addressed to Jérôme Guedj, deputy for Essonne PS-Nupes and published by the latter on his Twitter account, we can read that “depending on the generations, between 10,000 and 20,000 people will cross the threshold of 1,200 euros per this measure”. Two to four times less than advanced figures by the Minister of Labor in mid-February.

“Olivier Dussopt finally admits having inflated the figures,” Jérôme Guedj commented then, quickly joined by his Nupes colleagues.

For Thomas Portes, the LFI deputy suspended for 15 days from the Assembly for having stepped on a balloon with the image of the Minister of Labour, Olivier Dussopt is “Minister of lies and infamy”. The same type of attack for François Ruffin, deputy of the LFI for the Somme: “Careless and imprecise Minister of Labor”.

On the side of the Communist Party and its national secretary, Fabien Roussel, we are bitterly ironic: “Our pensions in the diet (…) With Olivier Dussopt, reduce the burden of pensions for retirees!”

From calls to blocks

This imprecision of the executive is too much for the deputies of the Nupes. “When he doesn’t want to, he doesn’t want to (…) It really is time for the project to stop!” LFI deputy Clémentine Autain tweeted.

In response, the left is planning the next day of inter-union mobilization against the pension reform, which should be followed by renewable strikes in many sectors.

Olivier Faure, first secretary of the Socialist Party, commented then: “Let’s mobilize for March 7 to put an end to this imposture.” His LFI colleague Aurélie Trouvé also launched: “In the face of lies, on March 7 we blocked everything.”

It should be noted that Jérôme Guedj’s revelations provoked some rare reactions from the extreme right, including the RN deputy Laure Lavalette, who stated that “this reform was based on a lie” and criticized the Republicans “who lie down” in front of the government majority supporting the reform.
