A Horizons deputy will vote against the pension reform

Yannick Favennec, related to the Horizons group, announces in le figaro who will vote against the government bill.

Loyal, but free. This is the addage of Édouard Philippe, former prime minister and presumed candidate for the next presidential elections. In the National Assembly, a deputy aware of the Philippine Horizontes group did not hesitate to return to the second part of the formula. This is Yannick Favennec. Although he is a member of the presidential majority, the elected official announces in le figaro that he will vote against the pension reform if the bill is put to the vote.

The Mayenne parliamentarian advocates “taking into account the number of years of contribution, and not a pivot age”. This premiere of life annuities is also promoted by certain deputies of Les Républicains, including Aurélien Pradié.

Yannick Favennec also laments a “lack of clarity about long careers and difficult jobs” as well as a “lack of clarity and certainty about the minimum pension of 1,200 euros” for retirees.

“Opposition”

A position taken in total freedom therefore. But also in contradiction to Édouard Philippe. That he had defended on BFMTV a “necessary reform” in early February. Above all, the former tenant of Matignon wanted to go further and push back the legal age, currently set at 62, to 67. Much more than the gradual extension up to 64 years provided for in the current reform.

However, this decision by Yannick Favennec is not a surprise. The MP was already out of danger a few weeks ago. On January 19, the day of the first mobilization against the pension reform, he declared on his Twitter account: “As it is, I will not vote for this text.”

The price of this freedom remains to be seen. Even more so taking into account the statements made last January by Laurent Marcangeli, head of the Horizontes parliamentary group: “When we do not vote on a financial text, when we say that we are a majority, that means that we are in the opposition,” he declared on a television program. Public Senate and LCP, in alliance with le figaro.

“Regrettable”

On the side of the presidential party, Renaissance, the threat is more explicit. During the group’s office last week, it was recorded that elected officials who did not vote for the executive’s bill would be excluded. In the viewer: former minister Barbara Pompili and two members of her microparty ¡En Común! The latter announced that they would abstain.

“It is unfortunate”, says Yannick Favennec in the columns of the figaroadding:

“It is equally unlikely that we are threatening deputies with exclusion when we do not have an absolute majority. If they want to exclude me, they will exclude me, but I really don’t understand their calculation.

Within Horizons, Yannick Favennec might not be alone. Jean-Charles Larsonneur, also associated with the group of 29 elected officials, plans not to vote on the text. He will give his decision on Wednesday night, after the joint joint committee meeting that will meet in the morning. Composed of 7 senators and 7 representatives, it is up to him to establish the final version of the bill. If agreed, the text will be voted on in the Senate and then in the National Assembly on Thursday, if the government does not issue 49.3 before then.
