After Adrien Quatennens, it’s Julien Bayou’s turn to find himself in the shuffle. Sandrine Rousseau revealed on Monday that she received the former campaign of the environmentalist deputy who accuses the elected official of violence. The former candidate for the environmentalist primaries spoke live on France 5 of “behavior that can undermine the moral health of women.”
“The Europe-Écologie Les Verts sexual and male violence and harassment investigation and punishment unit was seized in July 2022 for a report on Julien Bayou,” the party states in a press release.
“The cell must continue its work independently”
The movement had been called into question by name in a tweet from the feminist association We All, which wondered why “no action seemed to have been taken” against Julien Bayou.
“Yesterday, several people were publicly concerned about the slowness of the investigation and possible political influence on this cell,” the text responds, before assuring that “the cell must continue its work with complete independence and serenity.”
“EELV will follow the recommendations of the cell”
Sandrine Rousseau also said that she “received for a long time” a “very depressed” ex-girlfriend of Julien Bayou at her home. The ecofeminist assured that “obviously there are several” who are concerned about these behaviors, alluding to an “ongoing journalistic investigation.”
“When (the conclusions) are brought to its attention, the EELV will follow the cell’s recommendations,” the party finally assures.
The environmental group dedicated part of its meeting behind closed doors to the National Assembly to discuss the deputy’s case. Sandra Regol, number 2 in the party, explained to AFP that Julien Bayou observed a period of withdrawal while awaiting the conclusions of the internal cell in the face of Sandrine Rousseau’s words.
