“Stop the massacre”: they denounce police violence during protests against pension reform on Monday

In Paris, police officers, CRS and BRAV-M attacked protesters who were marching against the pension reform after the failure of motions of no confidence in the National Assembly on Monday. LFI deputies challenge Gérald Darmanin.

Since the outbreak of Elisabeth Borne’s 49.3, demonstrations against the pension reform and the “coup de force” by the Government and Emmanuel Macron have been daily. They are also accompanied by police violence, many protesters, politicians and independent journalists have denounced since Thursday on social networks.

This Monday several cases of police violence were reported again, after the rejection of motions of censure in the National Assembly.

police officers filmed

In Paris, a BRAV-M policeman was filmed violently beating a young woman who was trying to protect her face. Blows were inflicted on her upper body.

Numerous charges, often violent, of CRS or BRAV-M were also recorded in the capital throughout the evening. Thus we were able to see CRS take out their gas and their truncheons on a crowd that nevertheless seemed calm, in Vauban’s place.

Others were filmed beating young protesters, while the latter were unable to move. A man was also violently beaten by a BRAV-M member and fell instantly. “Stop the massacre,” demanded the rebel Raquel Garrido.

“Unbearable images. Macron, when does the chaos and repression stop? asks Mathilde Panot.

Traps and arbitrary arrests

In Paris, as in several cities in France, the police also chased hundreds of protesters. This practice, which consists of preventing a group of people from moving beyond a small perimeter framed by a CRS cordon, was declared illegal by the Council of State in 2021.

Dozens of people were also arrested and detained. A situation denounced by the rebel parliamentarians, who at night called for the release of the unjustly detained protesters.

“Macron and his government will never have enough police cells to stop the righteous anger of an entire people!” Mathilde Panot wrote on Twitter.

Emmanuel Fernandez, LFI MP for StrasbourgHe also arrested Gérald Darmanin after the upset of a man who lost consciousness during a bath “deliberately caused in a very narrow street, overloaded with tear gas.”
