“We are not a horde of savages.” A guest of BFMTV-RMC, Sandrine Rousseau criticizes Emmanuel Macron’s statements this Tuesday during a meeting with members of his majority at the Élysée.
The President of the Republic affirmed on this occasion that “the crowd” does not have “legitimacy” before “the people who express themselves through their elected representatives”, while numerous demonstrations continue in the country to challenge the pension reform.
“When you use the term ‘crowd’, we have the impression of a horde of savages, but we are not a horde of savages. We are a social movement and that is respected,” laments Sandrine Rousseau.

Believing that the “responsibility” of the Head of State is to “maintain social cohesion”, the elected official questions: “Do you really think you can sustain it with words like these?”
“Who is he really? What is he speaking on behalf of?”
The last finalist of the environmental primaries proposes an “enthusiastic” and “massive” movement, which “only asks for one thing”: “the withdrawal of this text.”

The Head of State also excludes a reshuffle of the government, a referendum or a dissolution of the National Assembly in the short term. He will speak this Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in a television interview to try to calm tensions, without expecting big announcements.
