The 2021 regionals take place on June 20 and 27 in an uncertain context, after a postponement linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. Ile-de-France residents are called to the polls to renew the 209 seats on the Ile-de-France regional council, in a multi-member proportional vote combined with a 25% majority bonus. The joint lists that have obtained at least 10% of the votes cast are kept for a second round. President of the region since 2015, Valérie Pécresse (Soyons Libre – LR) is running for re-election against Audrey Pulvar (DVG), Julien Bayou (EELV), Jordan Bardella (RN), Clémentine Autain (LFI), Laurent Saint-Martin (LREM) and Nathalie Arthaud (LO). On the left, Benoît Hamon joins the ecologist list and proposes a broad EELV-LFI-PS union, a hypothesis approved but which only materializes after the first round. In the center, 7 of Modem’s 13 regional advisers gave their support to Valérie Pécresse, in contradiction with the party’s instructions to mobilize the presidential majority candidate. On the far right, the MEP and vice-president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, announces his candidacy on March 1, 2021. The second round is marked by the victory of Valérie Pécresse, whose list is largely announced at the top of the votes cast.
