The President of the Republic pointed to the far-left party La France Insoumise on Monday, during a meeting at the Élysée Palace with Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and majority executives. According to him, “there is a real political project led by LFI that tries to delegitimize the reasonable order, our institutions, the institutional tools” such as the 49.3 with which the pension reform was approved.
The party “prepares the delegitimization of the Constitutional Council”, launched the head of state, according to the participants in the meeting, to BFMTV.
This last passage refers to the filings by parliamentarians, in recent days, of appeals against the pension reform before the Constitutional Council.
“You’re only stuck to 49.3, fuck it”
This statement prompted rebellious elected officials to react quickly. “It is not our fault if you are only attached to 49.3, to the baton and to the worst of our institutions”, thus responded the leader of the group in the Assembly, Mathilde Panot. “We delegitimize our institutions so much that we suggest they use them: referendum, dissolution.”
“Mr 49.3, what delegitimizes the institutions is to use them to impose a law rejected by more than 70% of the French and all employee union organizations”, Deputy Manuel Bompard also tweeted.
condemnation of violence
“We must continue to get closer to the union forces”, Emmanuel Macron also declared during this meeting.
The President of the Republic also strongly condemned the violence, apart from the demonstrations against the pension reform but also in Saint Soline this weekend. He declared that it was necessary to be intractable in the face of violence that, according to him, was intended to attack the institutions and the forces of order.
He stressed three words during this meeting: seriousness, responsibility and appeasement.
