The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, this Monday proclaimed the diploma establishing exceptional support measures for the most vulnerable families to mitigate the effects of inflation, according to a note published on the Presidency’s website.
The measures provided for in the diploma were approved on Thursday at the Council of Ministers, providing exceptional support for the most vulnerable families for a monthly amount of 30 euros, paid quarterly in 2023.
This support covers beneficiary families of the social electricity tariff (TSEE) on the basis of the month before the payment.
Families that are not beneficiaries of the TSEE are also covered, but of which at least one of the household members is a beneficiary (based on the month before the payment) of social minimum benefits such as the solidarity supplement for the elderly, social integration income, social disability pension from the special scheme of invalidity protection, supplementary social benefit upon employment, social old-age pension and social unemployment benefit.
Social Security Minister Ana Mendes Godinho explained in a press conference after the meeting of the Council of Ministers that this aid is paid in April, June, August and November (90 euros each time, a total of 360 euros per year) and called on families to update their social security details as they will only be paid by bank transfer.
According to information from the Ministry of Finance, this aid will reach about one million households.
An additional support for child benefit was also approved on Thursday, to be paid to each child and young person receiving child benefit, for a monthly amount of 15 euros, paid quarterly in 2023.
This support applies to holders of child benefit for children and young people, who correspond to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th income class of the household.
With the support of 15 euros, 1.1 million children and young people are reached.
