A petition launched last week demanding the dissolution of BRAV-M and posted on the platform of the National Assembly reached 100,000 signatures on Monday night. This request also has the support of various representatives of the opposition, in particular within La France insoumise.
“Brigade created in March 2019 at the behest of Prefect Lallement to muzzle the yellow vest movement, it has become one of the symbols of police violence,” the petition read.
Present in recent weeks during the clashes that took place on the sidelines of the demonstrations against the pension reform, the Violent Action Repression Brigade (BRAV-M) is accused after the dissemination of an audio recording. Distributed by The world and Loopsider, police officers can be heard insulting and humiliating detained protesters.
500,000 signatures = a debate in the National Assembly
Upon reaching this level, the petition will end up on the website of the National Assembly “for greater visibility” and may be entrusted to one of the eight permanent committees of the Palais-Bourbon. Until now, the platform that had collected the most signatures on the platform of the National Assembly concerned the extension of the duration of maternity leave.
If the petition for the dissolution of the BRAV-M reaches the mark of 500,000 signatures from at least thirty departments or overseas communities, it may even be debated in the chamber of the National Assembly.
