Accept or boycott. Although the Prime Minister had expressed her desire to invite them to “appease the country” in a context of social protest against the pension reform, several parliamentary groups expressed their opinion on their upcoming arrival, or not, in Matignon.
“Insubordinate France and its parliamentary group will not go to the meeting with Elisabeth Borne,” LFI coordinator Manuel Bompard tweeted, specifying that it was to take place on Monday.
The RN in Matignon on Tuesday April 11
Like the rebels, the communists were invited to Matignon on Monday as part of political consultations. They will also boycott the meeting and ask to see Emmanuel Macron directly, BFMTV learned on Thursday.
“We prefer to speak with the President of the Republic, where decisions are made,” Fabien Roussel explained to BFMTV.
While the rebels and the communists have opted for a boycott, the deputies of the National Rally will be received by Élisabeth Borne on Tuesday, April 11 in Matignon, BFMTV has learned.
The president of the deputies RN Marine Le Pen, however, expressed her astonishment on Twitter: “Why does the Prime Minister refuse to wait for the decision of the Constitutional Council (April 14, editor’s note) before continuing with her table round with the group leaders?”
For its part, the socialist group is waiting to receive the invitation from Elisabeth Borne to decide, according to a parliamentary source. Asked by AFP, environmentalists have not responded at the moment.
A procession to the Elysée
Instead of going to Matinon, the Nupes parliamentarians will organize a procession on Tuesday morning from the National Assembly to the Élysée Palace to demand the withdrawal of the reform.
“All the parliamentarians of the Nupes, will march in procession to demand the withdrawal of the text of the pension law in front of the Élysée Palace on Tuesday morning,” writes Mathilde Panot.
For his part, the communist deputy Fabien Roussel explain that the Nupes will make “a solemn appeal to the President of the Republic to withdraw his reform and respect democracy.”
