The financial implementation of the Military Programming Law (LPM) amounted to 469.78 million euros in 2022, the highest annual investment amount ever, corresponding to an implementation rate of 73%, the Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday, according to which this result is more than 191 million euros higher than in 2021.
According to the communiqué sent to the editors, nearly 282 million euros were invested last year by the three branches of the armed forces: 133.88 million in the air force, 80.12 million in the navy and 67.80 million in the army .
“The land and maritime branches recorded 97% and 81% of investments respectively, compared to 89% and 69% in the previous year. In the Air Force, the implementation rate increased to 54% (another EUR 18 million applied, resulting in a increase of 1%) and 6.65 million euros were invested in the General Staff of the Armed Forces (1.1 million more than in 2021, for the same implementation rate of 29%),” said the note from the Ministry of Defense.
“Through the central bodies and services of the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) – which also manage projects in all departments – an additional €181.31 million was invested, representing 89% of the planned allocation, more than tripling the amount invested in the previous year,” he adds.
According to the Ministry of Defense, in July “adopted several flexible management measures” contributed to these results, which “in themselves were responsible for the implementation of 120 million euros and took on a substantial role, for example in the Navy, which has increased implementation levels by 60% than expected at the end of the first semester”. ” They thus made it possible to anticipate the start of the modernization of the Vasco da Gama class frigates, the purchase of mortars for the army’s PANDUR II armored vehicles, maintenance or procurement procedures related to the Falcon fleets – and C-295 aircraft, from the Air Force, and a contracted phase of the KC-390 aircraft project, among several other projects,” the statement said.
More than half of the 70 projects registered in the LPM developed according to plan (38). Of the cases where there were restrictions, 80% of cases are likely to be recovered within the expected timeframes (26).
