“Game of dividers”, “not of the left”: elected LFI upset by the departure of Fabien Roussel in Nupes

In an interview with our colleagues from “L’Express”, the head of the French Communist Party estimated that Nupes is “outdated” and that “we must unite far beyond” this political coalition of left-wing parties. A call for enlargement that is not convenient for his fellow rebels.

Does the left extend from Garrido to Cazeneuve? Interviewed by our colleagues The expressthe deputy and head of the French Communist Party, Fabien Roussel, launched a call to “reunite far beyond” the Nupes and approached Bernard Cazeneuve, former prime minister and member of the PS.

“You have to speak to the entire left. It is unimaginable to exclude anyone if we want to embody a force for progress capable of winning,” added the communist deputy.

Words that do not go with several rebellious people. Alexis Corbière, close to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, asks not to “denigrate” the political formation launched during the 2022 legislative elections. For the LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, “the fight for the unity of our field and its reinforcement is a constant demand”.

“In this period of mobilization, let’s not feed the chronicle of the division”, writes Alexis Corbière on his Twitter account.

“Roussel and company have clearly chosen their side”

The LFI deputy for the 5th arrondissement of Val-d’Oise, Paul Vannier, offers him “to devote himself to organizing his barbecue with Cazeneuve and leave Nupes alone”.

“His divisive little game has already cost us the second round of the presidential elections,” adds the parliamentarian.

Even more virulent in her statements, Danièle Obono reminded the communist deputy that, according to her, Nupes constitutes “the only alternative to Macronie and the extreme right”.

“By attacking it, with no other objective than to advance their little people, the Cazeneuve, Delga, Hidalgo, Roussel & cie have clearly chosen their field. It is not the one on the left ”, he concludes.

An interview at a bad time for the leftist coalition. The Nupes, which brings together the elected rebels, socialists, environmentalists and communists, is weakened after a partial legislature in Ariège. Martine Froger, dissident socialist, defeated Bénédicte Taurine, outgoing deputy of LFI-Nupes. A result that welcomed Jean-Pierre Raffarin, but also the Minister of Transport Clément Beaune or Julien Odoul of the National Rally.
