TAP: Enough wants clarification on the CEO’s meeting with delegates and government advisers

The president of Chega this Wednesday said that Prime Minister António Costa and parliamentary leader of the PS, Eurico Brilhante Dias, had to explain a meeting between socialist deputies, government advisers and the CEO of TAP in January.

Speaking to journalists in the Assembly of the Republic, André Ventura stated that “there are statements that both Eurico Brilhante Dias and António Costa have an obligation to give the land”, arguing that the purpose of this meeting, on the eve of the executive president of the TAP clarifications in parliament, “clearly was the testimony” of Christine Ourmières-Widener.

Chega’s leader believed it to be a “clandestine and secret meeting” and accused the PS of lack of ethics, saying he hoped the clarifications he asked for could be provided this Wednesday. If the Prime Minister fails to do so, Chega will formally confront him in the Assembly of the Republic.

It concerns a meeting on January 17, on the eve of Christine Ourmières-Widener going to parliament to clarify the resignation of former administrator Alexandra Reis, at which representatives and advisers of the PS and cabinet chiefs will have been present from the government.

The initiative for that meeting came according to the CEO of the Cabinet of the Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba at the time.

Speaking to journalists, Ventura also asked that there are “political ramifications” of what was revealed in the parliamentary committee of inquiry into TAP, pointing out that the revelations made in the parliamentary committee of inquiry “show well how the government works and members of the government and the web of influence and complicity that has been set up and that the state has or has acquired in recent years.”

The leader of Chega also believed that Socialist deputy Carlos Pereira, coordinator of the PS in the parliamentary committee of inquiry and whom TAP’s executive chairman identified was present at that meeting, is “unable to continue” to are. part of this committee.

Asked if he follows the resignation of the Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba, made by the Liberal Initiative, the president of Chega replied that “tendency yes”, but added that it is necessary “to get an explanation from the rulers hearing before making a formal request for resignation”.

“If the answer the PS has to give is the answer it gave last night [terça-feira]that it was just a preparatory meeting, so yes, I think there are either political consequences or the country no longer believes in what is happening here in parliament.”defended.

Ventura pointed out that the situation of Infrastructure Minister João Galamba and Finance Minister Fernando Medina “was already difficult and is becoming more and more dangerous”.

Among the “worrying aspects” revealed in parliament, the Chega leader also pointed out “the attempt to change a flight of the President of the Republic” as it would constitute a “crime of influence or other” can be.

“The abusive attempt to influence the operation of an airline, by changing a flight, was blocked only by the apparent common sense of the Presidency of the Republic and the CEO himself. Had this common sense not prevailed today, we could have talking about a President of the Republic entangled in an absolutely deplorable web of influence, and this shows well how the government and the PS have handled the affairs of state.”criticized.

On Tuesday, the CEO of TAP did not deny that an email had reached the company from former Secretary of State for Infrastructure Hugo Mendes requesting the postponement of a flight from Mozambique, which was carrying the president of the republic as a passenger, who reportedly , I had to stay in Maputo for two more days.

According to the email, quoted by Rep. Bernardo Blanco, of the Liberal Initiative, Hugo Mendes stressed the importance of keeping Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa as an ally of TAP.
