“I would love to have more information.” In an interview broadcast this Thursday by the American channel CNN, French President Emmanuel Macron was asked about the classified documents related to him, recovered in August by the FBI from the house of former President Donald Trump.
“I have read some newspapers about it,” but “if you have more information, I will gladly share it,” the head of state told the reporter. “I’m not in the FBI, I’m not one of President Trump’s lawyers, I have no information on that.”
“I try to be a little less paranoid every day”
In August, several documents classified as “top secret” or “confidential” were seized from Donald Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Among them, a document “1A Info re: President of France” had been found, without further details being given.
“I wouldn’t say it’s extremely nice to see this kind of information, but I try to be a little less paranoid every day,” adds Emmanuel Macron, who says he is currently “quite relaxed.” “I would love to have more information but it’s not in my hands,” he says.
The objective of the FBI operation was to recover highly confidential documents stolen by the former president when he left the White House, when he should have left them. According to newspapers, some of the documents sought could be related to nuclear weapons. Donald Trump had reported, at the time of registration, intoxication.
