The PCP today expressed “bewilderment and outrage” at the case that led to the resignation of an aide to the Infrastructure Minister, but warned that the situation “cannot be exploited” to pave the way for the sale of TAP.
In a statement to the editors on the latest developments around the TAP Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry, communist leader Vasco Cardoso demands “the determination of the various responsibilities to the final consequences”.
However, Vasco Cardoso says the PCP “dissociates itself from those who use this and other episodes to attack democracy, public services and businesses, the interests of workers and the Portuguese people”.
“What has been revealed throughout the day cannot fail to arouse bewilderment and outrage in the face of procedures inconsistent with the requirements of transparency, truth and accuracy placed on the performance of functions and public companies,” he declares.
However, the PCP leader believes that “actions like this cannot be further used to pave the way for the delivery of yet another strategic Portuguese company to a foreign multinational, as some are planning with TAP”.
The PCP referred to the decision of the Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba, to fire his deputy Frederico Pinheiro, who, in a statement to the editors, accused him of providing information to the TAP Commission of Inquiry about the “preparatory meeting” with the former executive president from TAP.
