Chega decided to postpone the “World Summit of the Right”, a meeting with far-right figures from different countries that the party organized and was scheduled for mid-May in Lisbon.

“Chega will have to suspend and move the World Summit of Rights scheduled for May 13 and 14 to a later date”announced the leader of Chega in a video released to the media, shot in Budapest, where he will participate in the Conservative Political Action Conference, an initiative with representatives of far-right parties, and meet with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán .

In the video, André Ventura justified the decision with what he says is the “persecution to which some of the main guests have been subjected, involved in manipulation maneuvers”.

“Out of respect for many of these guests, especially North Americans and most recently Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro and his entourage, who were unable to travel due to decisions made by the Brazilian state, Chega decided to move the summit to a later date.”indicated.

André Ventura criticized “the spirit of aggression, conditioning and menace prevailing in certain countries” and expressed “outrage and astonishment at the surgical strike, aimed at and coinciding with the date when many of them were due to travel abroad, to Lisbon”.

“We are going to organize it again with more strength and determination, because we know that the future is not socialism, the future is the right to govern their nations with respect for their identity, for their traditions and to promote growth and prosperity. that our citizens expect,” said Chega’s president.

The “World Summit of the Right” was scheduled for 13 and 14 May and was to take place in the Congress Center of Lisbon. Tickets cost five euros for party members and 10 euros for non-members.

The program of this initiative has not been disclosed, but according to the president of Chega, the presence of the former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, and the Italian deputy prime minister, Matteo Salvini, were expected.

The party also indicated on its website that Mark Ivanyo, executive director of the Republicans for National Renewal, MEP Gerolf Annemans (Identity and Democracy, European political family of Chega) had confirmed their presence, as well as members of the Fidesz parties ( Hungary), Vox (Spain), EKRE (Estonia) and AUR (Romania).
