Chairman of the TAP investigative committee adjourns hearing and admits to leaving office

The chairman of the TAP Commission of Inquiry, socialist Jorge Seguro Sanches, was absent from work on Tuesday and asked for a replacement, following a lengthy discussion in which opposition parties questioned the application of a shorter abbreviation for the former airline’s shareholder’s audition pulled , Humberto Pedrosa.

Seguro Sanches even admitted that he no longer performs the duties entrusted to him. “The way my role in fulfilling the commission’s mandate has been called into question, in an even inelegant way, makes me question whether I still have the best conditions to do it. This reflection is an urgent reflection to do”, the socialist stressed, before asking the social democrat Paulo Rios de Oliveira to replace him “for the time being”.

The Socialist deputy recalled that the agenda for this week’s hearings had been set since the 4th and that there had been no request to change it, and that the schedule had been communicated to the personalities called to give evidence in the Assembly of the Republic, so did not agree that on top of the audition there had been a change in the rules.

Seguro Sanches also recalled that the so-called short grid was not used in its entirety in previous auditions, “proof that it was not time constraints that left a question unsolicited.”

Meanwhile, the sides decided to vote on which grid to apply, whether it was the longest or the shortest, with a tie. President Paulo Rios de Oliveira’s vote, however, broke the tie when he decided that the long grid would be applied.
