Today, the former governor of Banco de Portugal, Carlos Costa, announced that he will file a civil lawsuit against the prime minister so that he “publicly withdraws” from “insulting statements”, calling the president of the republic as a witness.
“Not yet called for the announced civil suit, supposedly proposed by Dr. António Costa [primeiro-ministro], I inform you that I have already constituted my legal representatives (…) for the purpose of the specified contestation of the aforementioned civil petition, with simultaneous deduction of a counterclaim against Dr. António Costa, so that he retracts publicly the insulting statements he has made against me, thus restoring the truth of the facts, enumerating, among others, myself as witnesses, including those whom the author has declared, including the President of the Republic ” , says Carlos Costa , in a statement to Lusa.
