PSD president Luís Montenegro on Saturday appealed to the prime minister, António Costa, to use his “political skill” to solve the country’s problems, noting that “to be competent is not to be competent”.
“I make a final appeal to the Prime Minister: use the tools at your disposal. You are known for your political skill, use it. And it must be said, to be skillful is not to be skillful. To be skillful is to cheat. Lose business on”he claimed.
The PSD leader spoke at the opening of the 3rd National Meeting of Social Democratic Mayors (ASD) in Lisbon, with the theme “Autarchy, what future?”, in front of a packed room and with some people standing, in which he was the mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, present.
The meeting will be closed by former PSD Prime Minister and former President of the Republic Cavaco Silva.
Montenegro insisted that there is a “political quagmire” in the country, defending that “if the government is unable to change, the country will have to change its government”.
The PSD, he reiterated, is ready to “be the protagonist of this change”.
“And the country knows we have thoughts, knows we have a project and the country knows we have people and a team, and a big part of the team is here in this room for me. And in this room, as in many others in the country, we are motivated, energetic, full of perseverance, full of strength,” he reflected.
