TAP’s former financial administrator, João Weber Gameiro, will be heard this Thursday by the airline’s committee of inquiry, on the same day as the hearing of the legal director, who claims professional secrecy, was scheduled.
João Weber Gameiro was in the management of TAP for a few months, between June 2021, with the arrival of then-Executive President Christine Ourmières-Widener, and the end of September of the same yearwhen he stepped down for “unforeseen personal reasons,” according to a government statement.
The hearing of TAP’s legal director, Manuela Simões, was also scheduled for today, but the person responsible invoked professional secrecy, according to a source of the investigative committee, so that the hearing will not take place.
According to the same source parliament will ask the court to lift the secrecy, as happened with the law firms SRS and Morais Leitão, whose requests from the commission were rejected.
Prior to his resignation, J.João Weber Gameiro was appointed as TAP’s representative for relations with the market on August 26, 2021, replacing Alexandra Reis, the protagonist of the controversial compensation that led to the resignation of members of the government and presidents of the company and its establishment . parliamentary inquiry committee.
At the time of Weber Gameiro’s resignation, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing regretted in a joint statement that “for unforeseen personal reasons, the cooperation [de Weber Gameiro] in the management of TAP has been interrupted”.
The former manager was replaced by Gonçalo Pires, the current CFO.
