Miranda Sarmento challenges PS party chairman to apologize to deputies

PSD party leader Joaquim Miranda Sarmento opined on Thursday that the leader of the socialist bank, Eurico Brilhante Dias, owes an apology to the deputies, advisers and staff of the investigative committee to TAP.

Miranda Sarmento spoke after the session of the Social Democratic bench and after the chairman of the parliamentary committee of inquiry TAP, the socialist António Lacerda Sales, announced this Thursday that in the report on the leak of information contained in documents of the parliamentary committee of inquiry, ” the absence of responsibility of deputies, advisers and technicians was proved”.

“I believe it’s time that the leader of the PS, deputy Eurico Brilhante Dias, finally clarifies why a few weeks ago he made a very serious accusation against the other groups and the other deputies who took part in the investigation of the parliamentary committee, that the CPI leaked information”emphasized Miranda Sarmento.

The leader of the Social Democratic bank stressed that “this is not true” and opined that Brilhante Dias “owes an explanation and an apology to all the deputies in this house, to all the advisers, to all the employees, to all the people who work very hard “. diligent, of all parties, in this CPI”.

On April 28, at a press conference at the Assembly of the Republic, the parliamentary leader of the PS demanded the consequences of selectively leaking information from classified documents, emphasizing that it constitutes a crime against the public interest and the state. “probably” committed by members of a sovereign body.

At the time, Brilhante Dias believed that finding the truth in that investigative committee was at stake, “by trying to build a story based on selective information leaks”.

According to the chairman of the PS group, the public interest and that of the state have been harmed by the disclosure of classified documents and it is imperative that more vigilance is exercised in the future with regard to maintaining confidentiality.
