For Bompard, Braun-Pivet is “a kind of good little soldier who applies Macron’s instructions”

The national coordinator of La France insoumise denounces the decision taken the day before by the president of the National Assembly. He declared inadmissible the reforms consisting of reintroducing the measures to repeal retirement at 64 years of age in the Liot law proposal, examined this Thursday in the Chamber.

“Frankly, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a comedy of such poor quality.” The statement is from Manuel Bompard. A guest of BFMTV-RMC this Thursday, the national coordinator of La France insoumise took up the words of the one who took her place on our set the day before, Yaël Braun-Pivet, president of the National Assembly.

The latter ended the hopes of opponents of the pension reform. They were betting on a Liot bill, examined this Thursday in the National Assembly and which aimed to repeal the postponement of the legal age of departure to 64 years.

Fearing a big setback, the Macronists first scrapped the provision in committee last week, with the help of LR deputies. In response, the opposition submitted amendments to reintroduce this measure, included in Article 1 of the text.

“Bad joke”

Niet for Yaël-Braun-Pivet who this Wednesday sent them a final of inadmissibility.

“On these amendments to restore article 1, I am very clear: they will be declared inadmissible by myself during the day,” said the patron of the Palais Bourbon.

Although it intends to apply the law, under article 40 of the Constitution, which specifies that the proposals and reforms of parliamentarians are not admissible if they lead to a reduction in income or an increase in public office. In the eyes of the macronistas, depriving themselves of the age measure would be equivalent to creating a deficit of “15,000 million euros in 2030”.

“It’s a bad joke”, answers Manuel Bompard. “We have the right in this country, the deputies, to vote to find out if the majority of the deputies are in favor or not of the annulment of retirement at 64 years of age.”

The constitutional justification does not convince the deputy from Bouches-du-Rhône:

“It is not true that Madame Braun-Pivet respects the law, the Constitution and the rules.”

“The Good Little Soldier” by Emmanuel Macron

In addition, “Madame Braun-Pivet, who chairs the office of the National Assembly, accepted the presentation of this bill, therefore its admissibility, at the end of April,” recalls the LFI parliamentarian.

“Since then he has changed his mind,” he argues, judging that this change of opinion could be explained by the “pressure” exerted by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron. Manuel Bompard insists and charges harshly against the deputy for Yvelines: “By making this decision, Madame Braun Praun-Pivet is no longer president of the National Assembly, she is a kind of good little soldier who applies the president’s instructions to the letter. Republic.”

“It is very serious”, continues the rebel who stresses the importance of the “principle of the separation of powers”. “It means that the legislative branch is not under the control of the executive branch.”

For the rest, “we will never let go”, promises Manuel Bompard. And to ensure that “sooner or later, the reform on retirement at 64 will be repealed.” During “our next parliamentary niche”, “we will re-submit a repeal bill if necessary”, he specifies.

Before that, there will be a motion of no confidence, announced the day before by his colleague and president of the LFI parliamentary group, Mathilde Panot.
