The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced on Sunday, May 11 that a “special operation” of the army and the Mossad (external intelligence services) had repatriated the body of an Israeli soldier killed in Lebanon in 1982.
“During a special operation carried out by Mossad and (the Army), we repathered the body of Sergeant Zvi Feldman, fell during the battle of Sultan Yacoub in June 1982 during the First War of Lebanon,” Netanyahu said in a statement of his services. According to a press release from the Joint Army and Mossad, the soldier’s body was found “in the heart of Syria.”
The battle of Sultan Yacoub had bought the Israeli and Syrian armies in the Libanese region of Bekaa, located in eastern Lebanon, along the border with Syria.
