Sporting will start the 2023/24 football season on July 2 and will once again do an internship in Lagos, in the Algarve, where the ‘lions’ team has hosted the past three pre-seasons, the club announced on Friday at the fair.
Despite the return on Sunday July 2, the team will only be in the Algarve between June 15 and June 26, during a period in which they play friendly matches against the Belgians from Genk (July 19) and the Spaniards from Real Sociedade (July 25).
Then, at the end of the month (July 30), the team led by Rúben Amorim will play at home for the Cinco Violinos trophy, in a match against the Spaniards of Villarreal.
At the beginning of August there will also be a friendly match on Everton’s English pitch, at Goodison Park, in Liverpool.
In 2023/24, Sporting will compete in European competitions for the group stage of the Europa League, after failing to access the ‘Champions’ places last season, having finished fourth, behind Sporting de Braga, who will start third . match qualifying round.
