The Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) finished this Saturday in 16th place in the sprint race of the MotoGP German Grand Prix, the seventh race of the season, won by the Spanish Jorge Martín (Ducati).
Oliveira, who started precisely from 16th position, crossed the finish line 13.837 seconds behind Jorge Martín, who won with 2.468 seconds ahead of the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who was second, and 3.287 seconds over the Australian Jack Miller (KTM).
Starting from pole position, Bagnaia was the first leader of the race, while Miguel Oliveira was involved in a mistake caused by the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) and fell to 19th position.
Jack Miller increased the pace and jumped to the front of the race taking advantage of a mistake by Bagnaia, who failed to brake.
Oliveira, for his part, recovered two places and rose to 17th place. Until Jorge Martín, on the third lap, attacked under braking and overtook Bagnaia and Miller at the same time.
From then on, the Madrid rider excelled, breaking the circuit record and gaining about two seconds from Bagnaia, who also surpassed Miller.
Miguel Oliveira would still rise to 16th place, with the withdrawal of the Spanish Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), due to a fall.
With these results, Bagnaia, who is the reigning champion and leader of the championship, maintained a 21-point advantage over the runner-up, who is now Jorge Martín.
The Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) fell to third place, now with 113, while Miguel Oliveira is 17th, with 21.
The main race of the weekend takes place on Sunday.
