This Saturday, Luxembourg added its first victory in Group J of the qualifying phase for Euro 2024 football, in which Portugal is located, by beating Liechtenstein, 2-0, in the third round.
In a match between the two teams defeated by Portugal in the first rounds, Gerson Rodrigues, born in the municipality of Almada, came on at half-time and ended up being the star of the match.
The Saudi striker from Al Wehda assisted Sinani (59th minute) for the first Luxembourg goal in this qualifying phase, to then close the result in the 89th minute.
With this victory, Luxembourg provisionally rises to third place in Group J, with four points, two behind leader Portugal, which hosts Bosnia-Herzegovina, and with the same points from Slovakia.
The Bosnian team is fourth, with three points, the same as Iceland (fifth), while the red lantern Liechtenstein has yet to score.
