This Saturday, the Italians from Trissino won the Intercontinental Roller Hockey Cup for the first time by beating Valongo 3-1 on penalties, after 3-3 in regulation time.
In the single match that decided the 19th edition of the competition, the transalpine formation, which lost 2-1 at half-time, succeeded FC Porto (2021), in a competition that was also won by Benfica (2013 and 2017) and Óquei Barcelos (1992). FC Barcelona has six titles.
Valongo and Trissino competed in the competition as finalists of the 2021/22 edition of the Europa League – the Italians also won 3-1 on penalties – in what was the second consecutive edition with only European teams.
