Artur Soares Dias, from the Porto association, was the best ranked of the 2022/23 season, succeeding João Pinheiro, ranked second in the hierarchy released today by the Arbitration Board (CA) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).
Present in 26 official matches, including 20 in the I Liga, three in the II Liga, two in the Portuguese Cup and one in the play-off for access to the second tier, the 43-year-old “judge” ended the season with the final score of 9.375, awarded by the FPF’s CA review section.
Referee since 2004 and international since 2010 leads the main category of male referees (C1), in which João Pinheiro, first in the last two seasons, came second with 9,353 and Manuel Oliveira third with 9,329.
In the women’s category, Sara Alves (7,787) succeeds Sandra Bastos as the best referee in this category, ahead of Teresa Oliveira (7,769) and Sílvia Domingos (7,765).
The CA also revealed that the referee Iancu Vasilica (8,442), from the association Vila Real, was classified first in the second professional category and should move up to the main category, as well as Bruno Vieira (8,343), from the Beja association, second classified, and José Bessa (8.336), from the Porto association, third.
Referee Luciano Maia came first in the main male assistant referee category, repeating last season’s standings.
Like last season, the C1 referee board will rise again by one vacancy, from the current 21 to 22 in 2023/24, and the referees who will be relegated to the second category will be known in July.
