The cyclist Ivo Oliveira (United Arab Emirates) was crowned this Sunday for the first time Portuguese long-distance cycling champion, winning alone the elite Nationals race, held in Mogadouro, with his twin brother Rui Oliveira in second position.
Ivo Oliveira completed the 169.6 kilometers in 4.16.19 hours, with his twin brother Rui Oliveira (UAE Emirates) in second place, 1.06 minutes behind the winner, while Luís Gomes (Kelly-Simoldes-UDO), 1 ,15 minutes.
The winner ran more than 160 kilometers, about 50 of them alone, and managed to win, in a race that began to be decided from the beginning, with a breakaway of 10 runners.
Subsequently, another four cyclists left the peloton and the group of 14 units in front gained an advantage over the peloton, where only Rádio Popular-Paredes-Boavista operated.
About 50 kilometers from the finish line, Ivo Oliveira attacked and no one knew how to respond, with the cyclist succeeding his teammate João Almeida, who won the long-distance race in 2022 and won the national time trial title on Friday.
