the Portuguese tennis player Frederico Silva was denied access to the Wimbledon main frame this Thursdayby losing 3-0 to Italian Matteo Arnaldi in the third and final qualifying round.
Frederico Silva, 188th in the ATP ranking, lost to Arnaldi, 78th in the world, by 7-5, 6-4 and 6-4, in a match that lasted two hours and a minute.
This was the Portuguese tennis player’s fourth attempt to qualify for the main table of Wimbledon, the world’s premier grass tournament and third Grand Slam tournament of the season, following the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
In the singles category, Portugal only has Nuno Borges, the highest ranked Portuguese tennis player (68th ATP) and who will also play in the doubles variant at Wimbledon, next to Colombian Nicolas Barrientos.
