Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Christophe Galtier and his son were arrested this Friday as part of an investigation on suspicion of discrimination following allegations of racism, the prosecution told AFP.
The two are in police custody in Nice (southeast France), prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme announced.
In mid-April, the judiciary opened an investigation into suspicions of discrimination on the basis of race or religion against the former coach of Nice.
Julien Fournier accused Galtier of discriminating against Nice footballers during his time in charge of the club.
According to Fournier, the coach told him, among other things, that the Nice team “couldn’t have so many blacks and Muslims” and expressed a desire to “minimize the number of Muslim players”.
Christophe Galtier rejected the allegations, revealing that he immediately turned to his lawyer “to initiate without delay the necessary legal proceedings” to counter them.
