PSG coach arrested on suspicion of “discrimination”

PSG coach Christophe Galtier was arrested this Friday on suspicion of “discrimination”, the AFP news agency advances. According to the French Prosecutor’s Office, the person who is still officially the coach of PSG is being heard by the Nice judicial police together with his son, John Valovic, in the context of these accusations of discrimination presented by Julien Fournier, the former sports director of Nice. . The PSG coach and his son will be heard by the police in the case of alleged racist statements in Nice in 2021.

The coach and his son have been in police custody since 8:45 a.m., authorities said. The police are investigating “discrimination at work based on belonging to an alleged race or religion”.

The racist words were attributed to Christophe Galtier, when he was coaching the Nice team, through an email that ended up reaching elements of the English company Ineos, which are the majority shareholders of the club.

This case was revealed by the French press, and the Public Ministry decided to open an investigation. The club’s facilities have been searched and the president, Jean-Pierre Rivère, and some players have also been questioned.
