Adam Yates beats twin brother Simon and wins first yellow jersey

British cyclist Adam Yates (UAE Emirates) is the first leader of the 110th Tour de France, having won the first stage, marked by the abandonment of one of the favorites, Spaniard Enric Mas (Movistar), through a fall.

Adam Yates completed the 182km, starting and finishing in the Spanish city of Bilbao, in 04:22.49, ahead of his twin brother Simon (Jayco AlUla), second at four seconds, and his Slovenian teammate Tadej Pogacar, who finished third. 12.

On Sunday, Adam Yates will defend yellow in stage two, a 208.9km ride between Vitoria and San Sebastián, still in the Spanish Basque Country, for which he will start eight seconds ahead of his twin brother and eighteen over the two-time Tour champion (2020 and 2021), some differences explained by the bonuses awarded at the end of today’s run.
