António Costa also congratulates the men’s hunting team, the women’s beach soccer team and the women’s table tennis team for winning the latest national medals in this competition.

Portugal today reached its 16th medal in the third edition of the event, surpassing the 15 of Minsk 2019 and leaving behind the 10 of Baku 2015.
In the last event with national participation, João Paulo Azevedo, Armelim Rodrigues and José Bruno Faria won bronze in the Olympic team event in shooting with hunting weapons, in Wroclaw, to achieve the 16th Portuguese podium in Poland.
This is the most successful edition of the European Games for Portugal, with three golds, seven silvers and six bronzes, after a two-week trip.
On Saturday, two bronze medals, from the women’s table tennis team and the women’s beach soccer team, equaled the 15 from Minsk 2019, now surpassed.
A ‘journey’ that began with the bronze for karateka Ana Cruz, followed by another third place, for canoeist Francisca Laia, in K1 200 meters, a distance that gave the country its first gold, for Messias Baptista, the new European champion .
In athletics, Auriol Dongmo won gold in the shot put, João Coelho was silver in the 400 meters and Isaac Nader was also second in the 1,500 meters, putting an end to the modality’s wealth of podiums, achieved in Chorzow.
Back to canoeing, Fernando Pimenta won silver in K1 500 meters and Kevin Santos and Teresa Portela were proclaimed European champions in K2 200 meters.
In muaythai, Gonçalo Noites and Matilde Rodrigues got silver, while the duo Miguel Oliveira and Afonso Fazendeiro got bronze for Portugal in paddle tennis.
On June 27, Marcos Freitas managed to be runner-up in the men’s individual table tennis tournament, and finished close to a new team medal, placing fourth, the same day that Miguel Frazão surprised with silver in the épée tournament, in fencing .
The third edition of the European Games ends today in Krakow and in the Polish region of Malopolska, with 30 sports on the program and 48 participating countries, including Portugal, which had a delegation of more than two hundred athletes.
