Portuguese coach who had died in Nigeria

Portuguese coach José Alexandre Bruno, who was working in Nigeria, passed away on Tuesday.

As DN found out, the 48-year-old Portuguese coach was the victim of sudden death.

José Bruno worked at Benfica between 2005 and 2018 in the role of assistant to Bruno Lage and António Bastos Lopes in the junior and youth teams.

Subsequently, between 2019 and 2021, he was coordinator of Benfica Escola de Futebol in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and was also involved in international projects for eagles developed in countries such as Scotland, Ireland and Switzerland.

Benfica posted a message on his official website expressing his “most sincere condolences” to family and friends.

In addition to his time at Benfica, the coach worked at Academia Sporting da Moita, Estoril Praia, Moitense and União de Santiago do Cacém.
