The Portuguese Bruno Lage is the new coach of Botafogo, replacing his compatriot Luís Castro, who went to Saudi Al Nassr, the club that leads the Brazilian soccer championship announced this Saturday.
“Botafogo announces that it has reached an agreement with the Portuguese Bruno Lage to take over the technical command of the professional team. Welcome to Glorioso, professor!”, that is, the duration of the contract signed with Lage.
Bruno Lage, 47, has been without a club since he left Wolverhampton in October last year, after leading the ‘wolves’ for just over a season.
The Portuguese coach, national champion with Benfica in 2018/19, will replace Luís Castro, who recently left the Brazilian shield to take over at Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.
Botafogo leads only the Brazilian championship, with 33 points, seven more than the runner-up, Grêmio, and in the last match, against Vasco da Gama, they were led by interim Cláudio Caçapa, due to the departure of Luís Castro.
