The SAD of Estrela da Amadora pointed out this Monday that it is duly authorized by the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) to play in the I Liga for the 2023/24 season, warning that Marítimo “had his chance on the field”.
The association of the tricolor club, recently promoted to the main division, reacted, in a statement, to the precautionary measure filed on Friday by Marítimo in the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the LPFP, for the transfer of Estrela da Amadora for the new station .
“Estrela was licensed by the League, which is the authority for this purpose, based on the opinions of the audit committee, which is independent,” said the SAD of Estrela da Amadora, which beat Marítimo in the maintenance play/ promotion- out of the I Liga for the 2022/23 season.
The SAD of the amateur club pointed out that “Marítimo had its opportunity on the field, during a sports season in which it could not show that it deserved to be in the I Liga”, considering that “Madeira is missing in Portuguese football “. , but not everything goes to achieve the objectives”.
The statement does not specifically respond to the allegations made in the precautionary measure by Marítimo, which argues that the share capital of SAD do Estrela da Amadora does not meet the requirements of the new Legal Regime for Sports Companies.
“We are preparing to have a good championship in the I Liga, we hope that Marítimo is doing the same in preparation for his championship [II Liga]”, indicates the note.
With this action, the Madeira shield seeks to avoid the presence of Estrela da Amadora in professional competitions, even after the tricolores were licensed by the LPFP, which included the club now promoted to the first step in the I Liga teams and the league. Cup.
The first official match scheduled for Estrela da Amadora is at Portimonense, on July 23, for the first phase of the League Cup, and, on the opening day of the championship, scheduled for the weekend of 12 and 13 August, the Lisbon club welcomes Vitória SC.
Marítimo debuted in the Taça da Liga on July 22, in Vizela, before starting the II Liga at the home of rival Nacional.
The new Legal Regime for Sports Societies was approved by the Government last January and, more recently, in June, by the Assembly of the Republic.
